My Summer Make-Up Routine

July 28, 2019

Hey Beautiful!

I can’t believe that Hobby Lobby is already setting out Fall and Christmas decor! Don’t get me wrong, I am in LOVE with Fall and look forward to fall decor, sweater weather, and pumpkin spice every single year but they always force it on us way to soon. Let’s get these final summer posts in before everyone starts posting about fall 🙂

I wanted to share my summer make-up routine with you today! If you didn’t know, I work in property management for a primarily student property which means the summers are the most intense days of the year. This means a lot of early mornings where I am debating on why I decided to work where I do ( JK, I love where I work wholeheartedly ). In all seriousness though, it is important to me to still look put together even though we are wearing tshirts and leggings to work (best part of the summer for where I work). I make sure that my hair and makeup look decent but without putting a ton of effort into it since I will be sweating it all off by the end of the day.

The biggest part of my summer routine is skin care because again, Alabama is so hot in the summer and you will get hot and sweaty if you step outside so I make sure that my skin care routine is on point. I start off by washing my face with the Clean and Clear Acne Clearing Line. I’ll be honest, this is not something that I remember to do every single day even though I know I should. I can’t be the only one. I got these products from Target but I believe you can pretty much get them anywhere. I use a cleanser and go back with a toner to make sure everything is out of my pores. Then , I tend to use a face oil. I have recently been the Yes To Miracle Argan Oil that I found at TJMaxx. I then go back with some sort of moisturizer. I flip between an Aveeno cream and the acne moisturizer from the Clean and Clean line from before. If you want an in depth post about my skin care routine, let me know either on my Instagram ( @ashleenicoleblog ) or comment below!

Now onto the makeup part of this routine.

I have started using a primer water which I am still getting used to but I am in love with this for the summer. Per the recommendation from Casey Holmes on YouTube, I bought the Wet and Wild Coconut 3-in-1 Primer Water which also acts as a setting spray and a refresher. This is so refreshing during the hot summer days and I’m a huge coconut fan so that makes it even better.

For foundation, I have been using the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation with SPF 50+ ( you can read my full review on this foundation here ). This is made out to be a dupe for the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream which is why I decided to try it cause ya girl does not have that kind of budget. I bought this one from Ulta for around $10 compared to the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream which is at $40. This has SPF 50 in it which makes me feel good about wearing it in the summer since it will still protect my skin.

I don’t always use concealer but when I do it is typically when I either have bad under-eye circles or if I have a bad breakout or something. When I do, I use the Maybelline FitMe Concealer. I have used this concealer for years now. I have not branched out much but I am always up to trying new things so if you have any recommendations please let me know below!

Now, I don’t have to have this step but it bothers me when my makeup rubs off on everything so I usually use some sort of powder to set my foundation and concealer. To do so, I use the Maybelline FitMe Loose Finishing Powder ( as you can tell, i’m a big fan of Maybelline ). I used to use the compact powder but then I discovered the loose powder and honestly, I like this better just because you get more product and it lasts longer. It’s a bulkier packaging but that’s the only downside to this I think.

I go back and forth between what blush I use. I try multiples. Right now I am using this E.L.F Blush Palette that has four different blushes in it so I can just choose one whenever I do my makeup. I have had this palette forever so I don’t think they make the exact one anymore but I know for sure that they have ones similar.

Eye Shadow

Using eye shadow depends on the day but I included it here just because some days I do decide to wear it. Lately, I have been using this Maybelline (again) Blushed Nudes Palette. You may have seen it in some of my pictures but I actually have brown eyes that have a tint of red to them so some days they can look like an auburn color in the sunlight which I love. I think they are so unique and I get a lot of compliments on them but to help that I feel like the pink nude shadows really help bring that out of them so when I found this little compact palette, I jumped on it. It has a good mix of matte, satin, and shimmers so you can really create any look with this if you wanted.

Eye Liner

I always wear eye liner. I feel like my makeup does not look complete without it. For my eyeliner, I use the e.l.f no budge retractable liner in black. This liner has lasted me a really long time and I love it. I honestly won’t stand by the “no budge” part because my eyes tend to water quite often and it does certainly budge but it is still a great line for the price.

Now the finishing touches. Mascara! I love mascara and I feel like most females do. My go to right now is the Maybelline (one last time) Total Temptation Mascara in blackest black. This has been a repeat buy for me recently and I still love it. I feel like it adds both volume and length to my eyelashes which is the number one thing that I look for in a mascara.

After all these steps, I finish it off with the Wet and Wild Coconut Spray again and done! It is quite and easy and quick makeup routine for the summer. This is perfect for anyone that has to wake up early in the morning for either work or school and want to look presentable but don’t want to put in much effort into it in the morning.

Share your makeup routine below! I would love to try some new products and do some reviews. What are your favorite products for the summer? DM a picture of your products on Instagram! Thank you so much for reading!

Such a great simple routine! Really seems nice.
Do you like the eyeshadow palette? Heard that it is not really pigmented and a little dry/chalky?
