Curly Girl Hair Routine

September 26, 2019

For a little over a month now, I have been on a curly hair journey. I decided that my natural hair was something to be proud of. I stopped dying it, using heat, and using harsh materials on my hair and started using products that were considered ( or at least close to ) #curlygirlapproved. Now that I have found a hair routine that works for me and that I love, I wanted to share that with you.

Washing

First step to this whole process is that I shower and wash my hair. I use the Verb Ghost Shampoo and work it into only my roots and scalp. After thoroughly rinsing it out of my hair, I go in with a decent amount of the Verb Ghost Conditioner and start at my ends and work my way up until I am slightly covering my roots. I leave the conditioner in my hair for a few minutes while I finish up my shower or shave or whatever else. I then rinse it out about 80% of the product out of my hair.

Products

After I get out of the shower with clean hair, I ring out my hair as much as possible and then use a normal towel to soak up some of the water. After getting my hair as close to towel dry as possible and then I start with the first product. I use the Verb Leave-In Conditioner and spray it all over my hair focusing it on the ends. I then work the Verb Sea Salt Texture Cream into my hair using “praying hands” to put it in my hair and then scrunching it into my hair. For this step, you can use any curl or texture cream that is curly girl approved as well as the leave in conditioner, I just prefer Verb and I highly recommend you try it. After the cream, I then take a plain t-shirt and scrunch my hair. If you didn’t know, using a t-shirt rather than a towel helps with the frizz that comes with having curly hair. I go in with the Cantu Twist and Lock Gel and using a good amount, be very generous, I use the “praying hands” again and put gel in all the way from the roots to the ends and coat all of my hair in gel. After it is covered, I scrunch it like crazy.

Styling

You can either take a diffuser to your hair until dry. I do this if I am in a hurry but I like to just let it air dry and go to bed. Either option you choose when it comes to drying, afterwards you will then “scrunch the crunch out” when your hair is completely dry and crunchy from the gel. I then take my Verb Ghost Oil in my palms and then use my hands to scrunch my hair as if I was putting something into my hair. I do this until my hair no longer feels crunchy from the gel.

I have enjoyed learning about my curly hair and figuring out ways to work with it cause ya girl has some thick hair and in this heat, its so annoying.
